Tulia on the Tahoe Flume trail

So after conspiring with a fellow mountain biker on mtbr.com, Tulia and I took a camping trip up to Tahoe to ride the Flume trail. I finally remember why I love the Sierra's so much. The views are incredible.

We started out by camping at Donner Lake State Park. RV camp of course. After fighting afternoon traffic, we finally rolled into camp at 1930 (we were expecting to get there at 1730 but we had a late start)

Smores at night and some pancakes in the morning an we were ready to ride the next day. Tulia rode around camp in the morning to get me pumped up... She was in fine 2 wheel form!

We met Brian and Caspar at our camp. They picked us up and drove up to the start of the Flume at Spooner Lake.

Once we got to the trailhead, the kids hydrated up with juice and powered up with high energy fishy crackers and other kid firendly snacks.

Brian worked out the details of the shuttle ride back with the shop on the phone earlier. We dropped the car seats off with the shuttle van and went off on our adventure.

We started out with about a 1000 foot climb over about 4 miles. We both rode with the handicap of 30 pound kids with 30 pound bikes and probably 10 pounds of water and snacks...

The kids kept saying, "go faster, I don't want to go slow." They wanted to race to be first, needless to say, neither of us did...

Once at the top it was a nice cruise down. We stopped for several pictures along the way as well as snack and potty breaks. The kids did really good for a long ride...

At Marlette we had a hike a bike around the water. Tulia decided to go wading...

After taking in the views on the Flume, we rode down to Tunnel creek Rd. Both kids were screaming and laughing as we blazed down the sandy fire road jumping water bars as they came...
